Kendra Joy Schmidt Weers, age 51, of Diller, Nebraska passed away on March 12th, 2026 in Omaha, Nebraska. Kendra was born December 31st, 1974 to Gary and Joyce Schmidt in Fairbury, Nebraska. Kendra is the youngest of three children, grew up and graduated from Fairbury Jr. Sr. High School in 1993. She spent summers working as a lifeguard and playing softball. After high school she would attend SCC Beatrice for transfer credits to then attend UNMC College of Dentistry to earn her Bachelors of Science in Dental Hygiene. She returned home and worked for Dr. Wesch at Fairbury Dental Associates and later, Dr. Grant as well as numerous beloved coworkers. During these early years she dated her future husband Darin, which led to their marriage on August 21st, 1999. To this union three children were born - Neleigh, Esdon, and Myleigh. With their three children there were many busy years of Sunday school, confirmations, all kinds of sporting events, dance, trap shoots, band concerts, and whatever else the kids were interested in. Kendra was a terrific mother, wife, friend, problem solver, cook, fashion expert, and decorating connoisseur. Her family would call her “perfect” in everything she did. She was truly dedicated to her children, husband, work, and life in general. She was a part of numerous church committees, Diller Community Foundation, and helped with numerous activities for her children. She was an avid sports fan cheering on the Huskers, the Kansas City Chiefs, as well as loved her Mustangs.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Gary and Joyce (Eilts) Schmidt, mother and father-in-law Robert and Angie (Frerichs) Weers, Grandparents Ben and Eleanor Eilts, Herman and Adeline Schmidt, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Kendra is survived by her husband Darin, daughter Neleigh and husband Dalton Petersen, son Esdon and fiance Ava Krahulik, daughter Myleigh, sister Kim (Alan) Bush, brother Kevin (Monica) Schmidt, Brother-in-law Brian (Kendra K) Weers, nephews Dustin (Andrea) Schmidt, Nate (Lindsey) Schmidt, Devin (Shaylea) Schmidt, nieces Kaitlin (Casper) Talkington, Brianna (Lyndon) Salts, and Joely Weers as well as numerous beloved great nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A friends and family visitation will take place Thursday, March 19th at Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home from 6pm-8pm. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 20th at 10:30am at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Diller with Pastor Mark Liscom officiating with burial taking place at Prairie Home Cemetery. A luncheon will follow at the Diller Community Building.
