Jacqueline “Jackie” L. (Lutz) McAlexander, age 79 of Sidney, IA passed away on Thursday, March 12, 2026 at Bergan Mercy Hospital in Omaha, NE.
Jacqueline Louise McAlexander was born on July 12, 1946 to Henry and Mary (Baker) Lutz at St. Mary’s Hospital in Nebraska City. She grew up and attended school in Nebraska City where she graduated from Lourdes Central Catholic with the Class of 1964.
On September 3, 1966, she was united in marriage to Darrel L. McAlexander and they shared nearly sixty years together. They made their home south of Sidney, IA before moving to their home north of Sidney in 1969, where they farmed and raised their family.
Over the years, Jackie was an active volunteer helping with CCD, blood drives, elections and band mothers. She enjoyed reading, crafting, gardening and bird watching. Jackie and Darrel traveled to nearly all of the 50 states, Mexico, Canada, Costa Rica, Panama, and many Caribbean countries. She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Glenwood, IA, the American Legion Auxiliary and the Iowa Corn Growers Association.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband Darrel McAlexander of Sidney, IA; children: Jona Beck and husband Michael of Murray, NE and Deana Policky and husband William of Columbus, NE; four grandchildren: Melissa Schulze (Caleb) of Syracuse, NE, Matthew Beck of Murray, NE, Benjamin Policky of Columbus, NE and Rebecca Policky of Columbus, NE; twin great-grandsons: Marvin Owen Schulze and Elijah Carl Schulze; siblings: Mary Ann Lyons of Hamburg, IA, Carol Parkison (Kenneth) of Omaha, NE, David Lutz of Sidney, IA and Charlene Stehlik (Fritz) of Omaha, NE; brother-in-law Jim McAlexander (Rose Ann) of Sidney, IA; numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Jackie was preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Ralph Lutz and Anthony Lutz; sister Patricia Lutz; brother-in-law Everett Lyons; sisters-in-law: Ruth Lutz and Josie McAlexander and grandson Joshua Beck.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 19, 2026 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Nebr. City. Burial will be held at 1:30 p.m. at Sidney Cemetery in Sidney, IA.
The family will greet friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday (3/18) at Gude Mortuary in Nebr. City. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m.
Memorials may be given to Sidney Fire and Rescue, Lourdes Central Catholic in Nebr. City or Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Glenwood.
