No tsunami threat to Marianas from Tonga earthquake

The U.S. Geological Survey recorded an earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 7.6 that occurred 153 km W of Neiafu, Tonga, with a depth of 237.5 km, at 2:37 p.m. (ChST).

As advised by the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center, there is no tsunami threat to Guam or the CNMI from this earthquake.

This will be the final statement issued by GHS/OCD unless additional information is received.
