University of Guam leaders facilitate Guam-Micronesia business and workforce summit in Singapore
University of Guam leaders recently took part in a regional business and workforce summit in Singapore, focusing on Guam’s role in the Indo-Pacific.
The Guam–Micronesia Strategic Business and Workforce Development Summit was hosted by Marunda Private Limited on March 11, bringing together more than 30 participants both in-person and virtually. UOG President Dr. Anita Borja Enriquez, Vice President Dr. Artemio “Ricky” Hernandez, and School of Business Dean Dr. Roseann Jones helped facilitate discussions on workforce pathways, credentialing opportunities, and partnerships among academia, industry, and government.
Enriquez said collaboration with private-sector partners like Marunda is critical to preparing Guam's workforce for emerging opportunities.
Representatives from Global defense contractors, Guam government agencies, and private-sector organizations discussed strategies to build a highly skilled, locally based workforce to support infrastructure and defense initiatives.
Marunda Founder Rachel Wong Mai Kim called the event an opportunity to showcase commitment to Guam and developing a world-class defense workforce, praising UOG for leading efforts in aligning government, industry, community, and academia.
