New painting program launches
The GCA Trades Academy is opening doors to a new career path with the launch of its professional painting program, giving Guam residents the opportunity to gain hands-on skills for the construction industry.
Classes began today at the academy’s Tiyan training facility, with sessions held twice a week over four months. The program is open to anyone interested in learning the trade, from beginners to those looking to sharpen their skills.
Students will be trained using the nationally recognized NCCER three-level curriculum, aligned with U.S. Department of Labor apprenticeship standards—meaning graduates earn credentials recognized across the country.
Coursework covers everything from safety and surface preparation to advanced techniques like spray painting, decorative finishes, and high-performance coatings.
Tuition for level one is $1,380, with classes scheduled Mondays and Wednesdays from 6 to 8:30 p.m.
