Ron Meyer
87 of Syracuse
Ron Meyer, 87, of Syracuse, was born on January 3, 1939, at home near Elmwood to Arthur “Art” & Minnie (Sudman) Meyer. He passed away on Friday, March 20, 2026, in Lincoln.
Ron graduated from Syracuse High School in 1956 and went on to serve his county in the United States Army Reserves. On February 28, 1960, Ron was united in marriage to Mary Johnson at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Otoe.
Ron started working at Tractor Supply in Beatrice, then worked 17 years for Hawkins Drainage and later became co-owner of Stubbendick Implement for 22 years alongside Randy Auer.
In 1965 he became a member of Luther Memorial, and he faithfully served on the church council as president. He was also active in the community, serving as president of the Chamber of Commerce and dedicating 10 years to the Syracuse Rescue Squad.
Ron enjoyed golfing – highlighted by two holes-in-ones – snow skiing, hunting, motorcycle trips and playing tennis. He was part of a ping pong group, card group and was known for always keeping busy and being very handy. Ron and Mary shared a love for traveling the world and shared a special cruise with their family to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years Mary Meyer; children Kevin Meyer and Corene (Ron) Faltin; grandchildren Audrey (Jarin) Gamet, Elizabeth (Charles) Viers, Mitchell (Kate) Faltin, Julia (Zachary) Pohlman and Grace Faltin (Simon); great grandchildren Paxton, Callan, Henley, Evelyn, Stella, Asher, Rose, Gemma, Blaise, Cora, Ambrose, Quinten, Charity, Louis, James, and two on the way; sister LaVonne Lippold; along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents and his brother-in-law, Bill Lippold.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 25 at 1:30 p.m. at Luther Memorial Church in Syracuse. The service will be livestreamed on the Luther Memorial Church, NE YouTube page. Visitation will be held prior to the service from noon until 1:30 p.m. at the church with the family greeting friends.
Memorials are suggested to the Syracuse Rescue Squad or Luther Memorial Church.
