Second Psychiatric Exam Set in Yatar Murder Case
Second Psychiatric Exam Set in Yatar Murder Case
A second independent psychiatric evaluation is moving forward for Vince Edward Santos Yatar, the man accused of killing his wife in a brutal July 2025 stabbing.
During a court hearing , defense attorney Tyler Scott confirmed that a psychiatrist is scheduled to travel to Guam on April 22 to conduct the evaluation.
Superior Court Judge Alberto Tolentino set a continued status hearing for June 11 at 2 p.m., after ensuring Yatar understood the process.
Yatar is charged with first-degree murder, along with a special allegation for the use of a deadly weapon. Prosecutor Samuel John Alexander is representing the government.
Court documents allege Yatar fatally stabbed his wife, Diana Rose Lagman, following an argument tied to marital issues and her plans to file for divorce. Lagman was later found inside a vehicle outside a police precinct with more than 50 stab wounds. Despite lifesaving efforts by firefighters, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities say police were first called to a Sinajana gas station after reports of a man covered in blood. Witnesses identified the man as Yatar, who later drove to the Central Precinct Command, where he was taken into custody after allegedly indicating he wanted to surrender.
Investigators say yatar later apologized to the victim’s daughter while in a holding cell.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner ruled Lagman’s death a homicide caused by multiple stab wounds. Court records also indicate a history of domestic issues, including prior reports of harassment and threats.
