April 1 surrender set
Convicted sex offender Gregorio Trio Denamarquez Jr. has been ordered to turn himself in to begin serving his prison sentence.
Superior Court Judge Vernon Perez set an April 1 deadline for Denamarquez to report to the Department Of Corrections, nearly two years after he was sentenced to seven years behind bars. The order follows the affirmation of his appeal.
A jury found Denamarquez guilty in April 2024 on three counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct involving a minor. He was acquitted on two other counts tied to earlier alleged incidents.
Despite a request from the prosecution for immediate incarceration, the court granted Denamarquez a short window to prepare. He remains under electronic monitoring until his surrender.
The judge also denied requests to delay reporting further for work or childcare, instructing denamarquez to make necessary arrangements before beginning his sentence.
He will serve seven years concurrently, followed by three years of parole.
