Meth trafficker Efren Bataclan convicted
A superior court jury has found Efren Tamio Bataclan guilty across the board in a meth trafficking case tied to Dededo, following a multi-year investigation by local and federal authorities.
Jurors returned the verdict Wednesday after about two hours of deliberation, convicting bataclan of multiple felony charges, including drug distribution, possession, and committing crimes while on felony release.
The case centered on two undercover buys, where prosecutors said bataclan sold meth to a confidential informant in 2020 and again in 2021 — the second deal involving more than six grams for $1,500. Investigators later linked him to a storage shed used to stash drugs and related items.
A search of that location turned up paraphernalia, meth residue, and ammunition. Authorities say bataclan later turned himself in and acknowledged his role in the operation.
With the conviction secured, the Attorney General’s Office says it will pursue a maximum sentence of up to 175 years, underscoring the severity of the case and its impact on the community.
Attorney General Douglas Moylan says efforts to strengthen border enforcement remain critical in the fight against meth on Guam.
