Chess is a game that by its nature is a battle of wits, requiring patience, improvisation and tact, and being able to recognize patterns and see three moves ahead of your opponent. And these skills were fully put to the test up in Dededo as the Guam Chess Federation held its national open championships over the weekend, with players of all pages squaring-off in intense competition.

Our champs were awarded in several categories, with another event just or youth planned for this weekend.

So congrats to all the entrants, and the winners in the men's & women's, seniors, youth and junior divisions!
