Arthur J. Schuster
Arthur John Schuster, 80, of Beatrice, formerly of Pickrell, passed away on Monday, March 2, 2026, at Beatrice Community Hospital. He was born on May 9, 1945, to John J. Schuster and Tena (Cramer) Schuster in Beatrice, Nebraska. He attended Filley High School. On August 15, 1965, he married Sharon Kay Boerger at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Beatrice. They lived and farmed north of Beatrice on the former location of the Gage County Poor Farm for 15 years before moving to his home place in 1980 near Pickrell. They were blessed with four children: Randy, Brian, Tim and Debra. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, rural Pickrell. There he served as Sunday School Superintendent and served on the Church Council. Art served in the Army Reserve for seven years from 1966 to 1972. He loved his mules and horses. For many years he drove a team of mules in parades with his dad and children. He and his dad made lots of wagons together. Art loved farming and working with his hands. After retirement in 2018, they moved to Beatrice and he enjoyed working part-time at Bomgaars. He really enjoyed spending time with his kids and grandkids.
Art is survived by his wife Sharon; sons, Randy (Mary Pat) Schuster of Porterville, CA, Brian (Stephanie) Schuster of Omaha, Tim (Carla) Schuster of Beatrice; daughter, Debra (Kevin) VanLaningham of Pickrell; grandchildren, Kealan Schuster, Emily (Jonathan) Rothe, Olivia, Kaden, and Kara Schuster, Tobey and Brady VanLaningham; sister-in-law, Delores Horg of Omaha, Marce Rademacher of Beatrice; brother-in-law, Walley Boerger, and many nieces and nephews and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Tena (Cramer) Schuster; granddaughter, Kacia Schuster; brothers, Fred, Bernard (Betty), and Roy Schuster; sisters, Aleda Kramer and Esther (Don) Rabel; sisters and brothers-in-law, Lillian (Fred) Scheele, Eileen (Dan) Nacke, Janice (Roy) Oden, Darlene Boerger, Daniel Rademacher and Ron Horg; nephew, Russell Schuster; nieces, Karla Kramer, Alice Ridge, Ardith Schuster, Jeanne Mowrer; parents-in-law, Walter and Anna Boerger.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, March 6, 2026, at Zion Lutheran Church of rural Pickrell with Rev. Dr. Renae Koehler officiating. A family prayer service will be held at 10:15 A.M. on Friday at the church. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery of Beatrice. Visitation will be held on Thursday from noon until 8:00 P.M. with the family greeting relatives and friends from 5:30 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at Fox Funeral Home.
