Robert Dale Tegethoff, 98, of Morrowville, Kansas, passed away in Fairbury, Nebraska, on February 27, 2026. Robert was born on November 16, 1927, to George and Ursula (Scheetz) Tegethoff.
Robert attended Morrowville High School, graduating with the Class of 1945. Shortly after completing his education, he enlisted in the United States Army Air Force, serving in the Korean War from 1946 to 1947 and was honorably discharged.
Robert was united in marriage to Gloris Boling, and to this union, two children were born. She preceded him in death. He later married Lillace (Terpening) Tuma, and through this marriage, he gained three stepchildren.
A lifelong farmer, Robert worked the land for many years. He was a member of the National Farmers Organization and, at one time, served as Mayor of Morrowville.
Robert enjoyed walking and especially valued time spent visiting with friends. He appreciated the simple routines of daily life and time spent with his family.
Those left to cherish Robert’s memory include his son, Greg Tegethoff; daughter, Mary Griffiths (Mark Bowers); step-son, Larry Tuma; step-daughter, Lindie Badie (Pat); daughter-in-law, Cherry Tuma; sister-in-law, Linda Tegethoff; along with eight grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Ursula Tegethoff; step-son, Les Tuma; brother, Harold Tegethoff; and sister, Wilma Brandt.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, March 6, 2026, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Fairbury with Fr. Justin Fulton officiating. Visitation with family greeting friends will be held on Thursday, March 5, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home, with a Rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m. Burial will follow at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Hanover, Kansas. A luncheon will be held following the burial back at the church in Fairbury.
In Lieu of flowers, memorials in Robert’s honor have been designated to Cedarwood Assisted Living. Gerdes-Meyer Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
