Multiple agencies respond to grass fires
Very high to extreme fire hazard in Nebraska today
NEBRASKA CITY – Fire crews from multiple agencies were called out Friday morning for grass and brush fires.
Nebraska City Fire and Rescue was dispatched to 56 and J southwest of the city at 11 a.m. for a grass fire that included waterways and a corn stubble field.
Dunbar was dispatched for mutual aid.
Syracuse Fire and Rescue was dispatched to assist Dunbar at a grass fire at 40th and I Road.
Peru and Auburn firefighters were dispatched at 11:52 a.m. for a brush fire on the west end of Mulberry Street at Peru.
The Nebraska Forest Services’ wildfire portal has River Country in a very high risk of rangeland fire today and the remainder of the state in an extreme risk. Risk is forecast to fall to moderate to high by Saturday.
