Case Sanderson homered twice in No. 19 Nebraska’s 10-8 win at No. 21 Oregon, as the Huskers rallied from a five-run deficit on Saturday afternoon to even the Top-25 series in Eugene, Ore.

Nebraska (27-8, 12-2 Big Ten) scored 10 runs on 15 hits, while Oregon (25-10, 9-5 Big Ten) tallied eight runs on 11 hits and one error.

Every starter in the Husker lineup tallied a hit for the first time since 2024. Sanderson went 3-for-5 with five RBI, with his two homers providing the offensive backbone of the comeback.

Dylan Carey homered and finished 2-for-5 with an RBI, and Jett Buck went 3-for-4 with a double. Mac Moyer had a 2-for-6 day with a triple, Miken Miller reached twice and scored twice, and Joshua Overbeek drove in two runs with a homer. Rhett Stokes and Max Buettenback each added a hit and an RBI, and Jeter Worthley recorded a hit and drew two walks.

Carson Jasa lasted 3.2 innings in the start, allowing five runs on six hits with four strikeouts and four walks. Caleb Clark picked up the win, improving to 2-2 after surrendering a run across 1.1 innings of relief. Ryan Harrahill recorded a pair of outs, and Jalen Worthley gave up one run in 1.1 frames. J’Shawn Unger earned his seventh save of the season with two innings of one-run ball to close it out.

Oregon jumped on the Huskers early, with a pair of two-RBI doubles in each of the first two innings to give the Ducks a 4-0 lead after two. An RBI single in the bottom of the third pushed the Oregon advantage to 5-0.

Nebraska answered in a big way in the fourth, sending 11 batters to the plate and scoring six runs on eight hits in the inning. Sanderson and Carey led off the inning with back-to-back solo blasts to center to make it a 5-2 game. After Buck singled and Miller reached on a fielder’s choice, Overbeek crushed a two-run homer to right to pull the Big Red within 5-4.

Singles from Stokes, Moyer and Je. Worthley loaded the bases, setting up Sanderson’s two-RBI single to left-center field that gave the Huskers a 6-5 lead.

The Huskers added a pair of unearned runs in the fifth to extend the lead to three. Buck was hit by a pitch and came around to score when Miller reached on a throwing error on a sacrifice bunt attempt. Miller made it all the way to third on the throwing error, and Buettenback lifted a sacrifice fly to left field to make it 8-5.

Solo homers in the bottom of the fifth and seventh innings cut NU’s lead to 8-7 with two innings to go.

Sanderson added a pair of insurance runs in the eighth with his second home run of the day, a two-run shot to center that scored Worthley and pushed the lead to 10-7.

Oregon trimmed the Big Red’s lead to two in the bottom of the ninth with an RBI double, but Unger recorded the final two outs via swinging strikeouts to secure the Husker win.

The Big Red looks to claim the series Sunday in the rubber match of the three-game set at 2 p.m. CT on the Huskers Radio Network.

Huskers Sweep Cyclones in Sioux Falls

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - The Nebraska volleyball team beat Iowa State 4-0 (25-17, 25-16, 25-16, 26-24) in front of a crowd of 3,376 at the Sanford Pentagon on Saturday afternoon.

Nebraska hit .360 while Iowa State hit .171. Skyler Pierce had eight kills and hit .889. Virginia Adriano added eight kills on .667 hitting. Teraya Sigler chipped in eight kills and hit .571. Harper Murray and Andi Jackson posted six and five kills, respectively.

Bergen Reilly played the first two sets and put up 17 assists with five digs, two kills, two blocks and an ace in her return to her hometown. Campbell Flynn played the third and fourth sets and tallied 18 assists and six digs with a kill.

NU had 11 blocks with Keoni Williams recording three solo blocks, and Kenna Cogill and Jackson also adding three blocks.

Olivia Mauch and Laney Choboy split time at libero and each had four digs.

Set 1: Nebraska went up 13-6 with five early kills by Adriano before Iowa State cut it to 15-13 with a 7-2 run. But Murray had two kills, and Manaia Ogbechie and Cogill each provided one to help NU go ahead 20-15. Two more Adriano kills and a block by Murray and Ogbechie helped NU finish off a 25-17 win.

Set 2: Three kills by Murray, three from Pierce and a block and kill by Reilly helped the Huskers stake a 13-6 lead. The closest ISU would get is three at 17-14, but Pierce posted two more kills and Reilly served an ace to please her hometown crowd and end the set, 25-16.

Set 3: The Huskers sprinted to an 8-3 lead with Jackson serving an ace as part of a 3-0 run. Sigler's third kill ended a 3-0 ISU run and made it 12-8, and Jackson and Gabby DiVita added kills before an ace by Keri Leimbach made it 16-9. Two more kills by DiVita increased the lead to 21-12, and Ryan Hunter added a kill as the Huskers won 25-16.

Set 4: NU trailed 12-10, but a kill by Sigler, block by Hunter and Jackson, and two kills by Jackson paced the Huskers to a 14-12 lead. Jayden Robinson, Sigler and Williams notched kills as the Huskers went up 20-17. A back-row kill from Sigler and a block and kill by Williams made it 23-19. Another Williams kill earned match point at 24-21, but the Cyclones scored three in a row to extend the set. But Hunter posted a kill and a block with Jackson to end the set and match, 26-24.

Up Next: The Huskers are back in action next Friday at 7 p.m. at Creighton at D.J. Sokol Arena in Omaha. That match will be televised on Nebraska Public Media.

Six-Run Fourth Inning Propels Huskers to Series Win

The No. 7 Nebraska softball team scored six runs in the fourth inning and claimed a 6-0 win over the Badgers on Saturday afternoon in Madison, Wisc.

With the victory, NU improved to 32-6 on the season and 13-1 in Big Ten play.

Jordy Frahm (11-4) claimed the win in the circle, tossing a two-hit shutout with five strikeouts and no walks. Frahm also dealt a no-hitter through six innings. Kendra Lewis (3-4) took the loss for Wisconsin.

Offensively, NU logged nine hits on the day. Hannah Coor and Alexis Jensen were responsible for two RBIs apiece, with Jensen knocking a two-run shot. Hannah Camenzind and Jesse Farrell each logged an RBI on the day, while Frahm contributed two hits with a double. Ava Kuszak also contributed a double.

Kuszak opened the fourth inning with a double down the left field line and went to third on a wild pitch. She scored on a Farrell single. Jensen followed them up with a two-run homer before Hoffmann singled and Frahm doubled, and Frahm and Hoffmann’s pinch runner, Katelyn Caneda, crossed the plate on a Coor single. H. Camenzind singled to send Coor across the plate and give Nebraska a 6-0 lead, which it would maintain for the rest of the game.

The Huskers and Badgers will face off one more time tomorrow, April 12, at 12 p.m. (CT) in Madison, Wisc. The game will be streamed on B1G+ and can be heard across the Huskers Radio Network.

Lewis Scores Hat Trick in 6-1 Win

The Nebraska soccer team wrapped up its second of two home spring games with a 6-1 win over the Iowa State Cyclones on Saturday afternoon at Barbara Hibner Stadium.

Transfer Nathalie Lewis had three of six goals for Nebraska. Karli Williams, Reese Borer, and Kate Eggett each added a goal of their own.

A team effort supported the Husker’s dominant performance with assists from Ava Makovicka, Karli Williams, Reese Snowden, Kayma Carpenter and Rin Sato.

Goalies Avery Gillahan and Maddy Osborn split time, allowing just one goal from the Cyclones’ five shots.

The Huskers were on the board first with a header goal from Karli Williams off of a corner by Kayma Carpenter. Likewise, Reese Borer opened the second period with a header goal off of a corner from Reese Snowden.

Nathalie Lewis made it 4-0 in the second period with a penalty kick goal and header of her own off assists from Ava Makovicka and Rin Sato. A quick shot, assisted by Williams, to start the third period completed her hat trick.

Kate Eggett rounded out scoring for Nebraska with a goal in the 80th minute.

Iowa State was able to put one in the back of the net with just ten seconds remaining in the match.

The Huskers will wrap up the spring season at Colorado on Saturday, April 18. The game is set to start at 1 p.m. (CT) in Boulder, Colo.
