NEBRASKA CITY – Shine Your Light Nebraska City has scheduled it mental health awareness event at Arbor Lodge State Park on Monday, May 25.

Organizer Stephanie Roth said whether people run, walk or just be present it helps erase the stigma associated with public disclosure of mental health issues and suicide.

A 9 a.m. kickoff for Shine Your Light is set in front of the Whispering Bench at the park.

In an effort to erase the stigma associated with public disclosure of mental health issues and suicide, a group from Nebraska City is organizing a “Shine Your Light” Mental Health Awareness Event.

“This event is about breaking the stigma surrounding mental health and suicide while supporting those who are struggling,” said event organizer Stephanie Roth. “Whether you walk, run, or simply show up, your presence matters.”

Scheduled for Monday, May 25, 2026, the third annual event will take place in Arbor Lodge State Park.

All are welcome. The kick-off will be at 9 a.m. in front of the Whispering Bench near the entrance to the park (additional parking is available at the Nebraska City High School).

The “Shine Your Light” event is not timed or distanced. Participants are encouraged to go as long and as far through the park as they desire.

Early registrants (up to May 15) are guaranteed a t-shirt day of event.
