Edna B. DeLay

Edna B. Delay, 93, Morrowville, died Tuesday, March 17, 2026 at the Washington County Hospital in Washington.

A funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m., Tuesday March 24, 2026 at Ward Funeral Home in Washington. Pastor Ron Brown will officiate.  

Pallbearers are Brandon DeLay, Brett DeLay, Carson Talkington, Christopher DeLay, Xander Baxa DeLay and Jason DeLay.

Burial will be in the Morrowville Cemetery.

Edna was born in Aberdeen, Scotland on December 16, 1932 to James and Barbara (Morrison Diack) Ovenston. She was united in marriage to Marvin DeLay, January 8, 1959 in Fairbury, NE.

Edna worked as a CNA at the local nursing homes and hospital. She enjoyed gardening, canning, cooking , watching birds and loved to dance. Her family was important to her, especially the grandchildren. She would send birthday cards to all the relatives.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Marvin “Tug”; son, Charles DeLay; and brother, Colin Ovenston.

Survivors include her children, David (Connie) Delay, Morrowville, Barbara (Brad Crocker) DeLay, Linn, Jennifer (Steve) Talkington, Morrowville, Patrick DeLay, Morrowville and Jonathan (Courtney Simpson), Grand Island, NE; and several grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

A memorial fund is established and will be designated by the family later. Contributions may be sent in care of Ward Funeral Home, Washington, KS.
