GDOE announces semifinalists for Teacher of the Year

Seven outstanding educators from across the island recognized

The Guam Department of Education, in partnership with the Foundation for Public Education, has announced the semi-finalists for the 2027 Guam Teacher of the Year program. Seven outstanding educators from across the island have been recognized for their excellence in teaching and dedication to student success:

• Luke Tedtaotao — George Washington High School
• Mebric Navisaga — Inarajan Elementary School
• Carolyn Haruo — John F. Kennedy High School
• Madrid Borja — L.P. Untalan Middle School
• Loretta Cruz — M.U. Lujan Elementary School
• Jonnavie Abaya — Simon Sanchez High School
• Joseph Anthony Chargualaf II — Okkodo High School

From this group, six will advance to the next phase of interviews.

GDOE and the Foundation also congratulated all nominees, highlighting the passion, commitment, and impact educators continue to make in classrooms and communities across Guam.
