OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - On Thursday, Omaha officials plan to reopen the intersection affected by the Aksarben-area sinkhole.
In a press conference Monday, Mayor John Ewing said 67th and Pacific, which was affected by the sinkhole, was set to open Thursday. As a specific time was not given, drivers should use caution when traveling in the area.

City Engineer Austin Rowser said work by the Metropolitan Utilities District was done last Thursday, and the hole was filled with the paving reaching completion Monday.
In terms of what caused the sinkhole, the City of Omaha says a review is underway. Rowser said Omaha’s proximity to the Missouri River makes the soil highly erodible.
Roswer said sinkholes often come with warning signs like cracks in the pavement or water rising to the surface — the one at Pacific did not, making it a rare situation.
