Weekend weather alert
Unsettled weather possible for Guam this weekend
The National Weather Service is monitoring a tropical disturbance known as Invest 95W moving through Western Micronesia that could bring unsettled weather to Guam this weekend. Forecasters say the system is currently poorly organized and rated “sub-low” for development, meaning a tropical cyclone is not expected in the next few days.
However, the disturbance could interact with a shear line moving into the Marianas, increasing the potential for heavy rain, gusty winds, and thunderstorms beginning late Friday and lasting through the weekend.
Officials say the biggest concern will be periods of heavy rainfall that could lead to flash flooding across Guam and the CNMI.
Residents are advised to stay weather-aware and use caution when driving during heavy rain or near flooded roadways.
